Wolfsburg content to cash in on striker Edin Dzeko

Wolfsburg have told Edin Dzeko he will be allowed to leave the German side - but only if a club meets his buy-out clause.

• Dzeko still wants Milan switch

Dzeko has been in high demand in recent months after helping fire Wolfsburg to the Bundesliga title last season, and several clubs around the continent expressed an interest in the summer, but he eventually committed to a new contract until 2013 in August.

However, AC Milan are believed to remain keen admirers and, although Manchester United are also reported to be following the player, Dzeko recently reiterated his desire to move to San Siro and suggested he expects a deal to go through in the summer.

And, although boss Wolsburg boss Armin Veh would like to keep the player, he admits that the money raised from the sale would allow them to rebuld.

"It is a fact that he is able to leave if there is a club willing to pay the amount agreed in his contract," Veh told Eurosport. "This amount of money would put us in the position of being able to find a replacement of a standard comparable to Edin Dzeko's."
