Malaysian FA and trouble club fined for stadium damage
The Malaysian Football Association (FAM) and league side Kelantan have been fined due to damage caused to the National Stadium during Saturday's cup final.
Malaysian daily The Star reported on Thursday that the FAM's disciplinary board had ordered its Stadium Board to pay 138,150 ringgit ($40,921) for the damage caused by Kelantan fans.
Kelantan, whose fans set fire to plastic seats in the stadium, let off fireworks and threw objects onto the pitch following their side's 3-1 defeat to rivals Negeri Sembilan, were fined 50,000.
It is not the first time that Kelantan have had been in trouble for their supporters' behaviour.
They were banned from playing home matches at their Kota Baru stadium in April after repeat disturbances during Negeri Sembilan games, including one where the visitors were trapped in their dressing room for two hours as fans ran amok.
