Tony Mowbray: Result is paramount, not performance

Celtic manager Tony Mowbray has vowed not to look too deeply at his side's performance in the 2-1 win over Hamilton.

• Hamilton 1-2 Celtic

Mowbray, who often talked up his West Brom side's entertaining play in defeat as they were relegated from the Premier League last season, insisted that taking three points was most important for the Hoops.

Those were ensured thanks to goals from Shaun Maloney and Scott McDonald, but an 83rd-minute effort from Mickael Antoine-Curier made them sweat on the result.

"It's a welcome three points and it puts us back where we want to be and hopefully we can push on from there,'' Mowbray told ESPN. "If you look at the table you will see Glasgow Celtic on top of it.

"We won and that's the important thing. It's all about results and we got the result today so we won't analyse it too deeply. I didn't feel threatened until the last five minutes, we generally controlled the game.''

Celtic skipper Stephen McManus was slightly more candid about the side's inability to find their best form in recent weeks.

He told ESPN: "We still need to get better, moving the ball and passing the ball. Everyone's got an opinion but as players you just want to get better and it's important all the lads stick together and are behind the manager. We're still not firing on all cylinders but we'll get there.''
