Hodgson turns down Sweden and Norway

Fulham boss Roy Hodgson has revealed that he turned down the chance to manage Scandinavian duo Norway and Sweden after recent approaches.

The 62-year-old has vast experience of managing around the globe and has had spells in both Sweden - with Halmstads BK, Örebro SK and Malmö FF - and Norway - with Viking FK.

Neither country managed to qualify for next year's World Cup finals with Sweden edged out by Portugal and neighbours Denmark, while Norway's second place behind the Netherlands not enough to see them reach the play-offs.

But Hodgson has pledged his immediate future to Fulham after admitting he had been approached for the vacant positions.

"It's very nice to be mentioned," Hodgson said. "I've made it clear to the people who have contacted me that I have a contract so it's a non-starter and there is no point in them considering me."

He has caught the eye since taking over at Fulham in 2007 after saving them from relegation in his first season season before leading them to seventh spot and a place in Europe last term.

Hodgson has previously coached the national teams of Finland and Switzerland, receiving particular acclaim for the job he did with the Swiss after guiding them to the World Cup finals in 1994 and European Championship finals in 1996 - their first major championship appearances for thirty years.
