Richards rubbishes quit reports

Micah Richards claims it is "absolutely ridiculous" to suggest that he is looking to leave Manchester City having seen his first-team status slump in recent weeks.

Richards started the first six matches of City's season but was dropped following the 4-3 defeat to Manchester United at Old Trafford with Pablo Zabaleta taking his place at right-back.

An injury to Kolo Toure meant Richards started Sunday's 1-1 draw with Wigan though and with Pablo Zabaleta facing a suspension following his dismissal in that game, the England international has the chance to stake a strong claim for inclusion in Mark Hughes' future plans.

Now Richards has made perfectly clear that despite recent reports to the contrary, he has no intention of leaving a club that boasts soaring ambitions thanks to the huge finances at their disposal.

"For them to suggest that I want to leave City is absolutely ridiculous,'' Richards told the Manchester Evening News. "I have three-and-a-half years left on my contract. When you look at the way this club is going, who in their right mind would want to leave?

"I am 21 and people seem to forget that I am still learning my trade. I am just enjoying the ride. There is perhaps the impression out there that I am bit older than I am but I know I am not the finished product.''
