Knee injury prevents Jose Bosingwa return

Chelsea defender Jose Bosingwa will miss Wednesday's Champions League fixture with Atletico Madrid due to a knee injury, manager Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed.

Bosingwa missed the first two games of the club's Group D campaign due to suspension having been punished for an outburst following Chelsea's contentious semi-final ext at the hands of Barcelona last season.

Branislav Ivanovic had deputised during the 1-0 victories over Porto and Apoel Nicosia and the Serbia international will continue in the role when Atleti visit Stamford Bridge.

However, Ancelotti hopes that Bosingwa will be recover from his knee problem in time for Saturday's Premier League fixture against Blackburn Rovers as Chelsea aim to avoid a third defeat in four league games.

The right back sustained the injury during Chelsea's 2-1 defeat to Aston Villa on October 17 as he was replaced by Ivanovic after 69 minutes.
