Loan star Franco Di Santo open to stay
Blackburn Rovers striker Franco Di Santo would be more than happy to extend his loan spell at Ewood Park should Chelsea agree to the deal in the January transfer window.
Di Santo, 20, is currently on loan at Blackburn until the turn of the year and is expected to return to Stamford Bridge as Chelsea are currently prevented from signing any new players in the next two transfer windows and will lose Didier Drogba to the African Cup of Nations in January.
Chelsea are appealing against the punishment imposed by FIFA after they were found guilty of inducing Gael Kakuta to break his contract with Lens in 2007 and, if successful, that could have a positive impact on Rovers' hopes of holding onto the player who opened his account with a goal against rivals Burnley at the weekend.
Di Santo is ready to return to Chelsea if required but has also spoken of his contentment with life under Sam Allardyce as he continues to develop at Blackburn.
"I need to improve and gain experience," Di Santo told the Daily Express. "I need to play games and score goals. If I got back to Chelsea I will try my best but, if I stay here, I will continue my education.
"It is good for me being at Blackburn. I am very happy to be here because the manager has given me the opportunity to play. That has given me the opportunity to improve and gain experience and I hope to get better and better over the next few games.
"Sam Allardyce is helping me to become a more complete player. I have the ambition to be able to play in every kind of style so, if I have any problems in certain areas, I want to work harder to fit in with that particular way.
"I hope to get back to Chelsea and play. If I go back and don't play, it is less good for me. It depends on the situation. One of the main reasons to stay here would be because of the supporters. They seem to love my name I think and that situation gives me more confidence to continue here.
"I feel I have proved I can play in the Premier League by coming here but I need to improve every game. I need more experience and now Blackburn have given me the opportunity to play more games."
