Resino bemoans his luck after another defeat

Atletico Madrid boss Abel Resino insisted his side's 3-0 defeat at Osasuna was "unjust'' as he battles to save his job at the Vicente Calderon.

The Rojiblancos were well beaten in Pamplona, a woeful defensive display contributing largely to a disjointed performance which was punished by two Walter Pandiani goals and a tap-in from Carlos Aranda.

Resino's side did create chances at the other end but, with Diego Forlan rested and Sergio Aguero having an off night, the visitors failed to find the back of the net.

Resino was adamant Atletico deserved more and must now be hoping for better in Wednesday's Champions League clash at Chelsea and this weekend's home game against high-flying Real Mallorca.

"We have to continue working hard to correct the errors,'' said Resino, whose side are 15th in the Primera Division having won just once in the league this season.

"We have put everything into it but the soccer gods are being very unjust with us. We had many chances but (Osasuna goalkeeper) Ricardo was sensational. We cannot escape the fact that we are badly placed in the standings.

"I am not content and the annoyance level that I have is one that any coach would have after losing 3-0.''

Resino may have found a degree of comfort in the words of Atletico vice-president Lazaro Albarracin, who insisted there were no imminent plans to make a change.

He told Canal Plus after the game: "We cannot be changing coach now. I trust the players. From the start we have been asked about continuing with Abel. We cannot be confirming it all the time. We must have confidence in him.

"This is the same squad which qualified us for the Champions League last season.''
