Agent: Benayoun won't leave Liverpool for City

Yossi Benayoun's agent has underlined that his client remains happy at Liverpool despite reports of interest from Manchester City over the weekend.

It was claimed in some quarters that Benayoun is a somewhat unlikely target for Mark Hughes who spent well over £100 million in the summer when reinforcing his squad.

However Benayoun, who signed a two-year contract extension in July, is not entertaining thoughts of leaving Anfield according to his agent, Ronen Kastav.

"Naturally a player playing well at Liverpool will always have other teams interested in him," Kastav told the Liverpool Post. "It is a great compliment that there is interest from high-level teams across Europe but Yossi is very happy at Liverpool and only in the summer agreed a new four-year contract."

Benayoun joined Liverpool from West Ham for a fee of £5 million in July 2007 and has made 70 Premier League appearances under Rafael Benitez.

In the aftermath of Xabi Alonso's departure to Real Madrid, Benitez has invested more faith in the creative Benayoun who has featured in all eight of the club's league games this season, scoring a memorable hat-trick against Burnley.
