Amr Zaki ready to join Portsmouth

Amr Zaki has told Portsmouth he is ready to join the struggling club when the transfer window opens in January after discussing a move with Sulaiman Al-Fahim.

Zaki, 26, spent last season on loan at Wigan and was the subject of sustained interest from Portsmouth over the summer. However, Zamalek rejected all approaches for their star striker.

After an eventful time at Wigan where he burst onto the scene with a strong of goals before angering Steve Bruce with his behaviour off the pitch, Zaki feels he has unfinished business in the Premier League.

And the Egypt international is willing to move to Fratton Park having held talks with former Portsmouth owner Al-Fahim.

"The second call he (Al Fahim) assured me that he would submit an offer to Zamalek in January," said Zaki in the Portsmouth News. "I want to get back (to England) to prove that I am a good player, and that I have learned from my mistakes. Maybe if I went back to England, I would finish my career there."

Al-Fahim retains a 10% stake in Portsmouth following his sale of the club to Ali Al-Faraj and the new owner has pledged to strengthen the squad in January as Pompey continue to fight against relegation.
