Manager Fabio Capello has stuck with West Ham United goalkeeper Robert Green for England's World Cup qualifier in Ukraine amid speculation that Portsmouth veteran David James would reclaim the No.1 jersey.
Green stood in for James, who was sidelined with a shoulder injury, as England beat Croatia 5-1 at Wembley on September 9 to secure a place at South Africa 2010 with two games to spare.
James, who has 48 caps for England, will be 40-years-old next summer and with England already through the finals Capello has the opportunity to run his eye over Green, 29, in another competitive international.
Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick, who last made a competitive start for England back in October 2006, gets a rare chance in place of Manchester City's Gareth Barry.
England team: Green, Johnson, A Cole,, Ferdinand, Terry (capt), Gerrard , Lennon, Lampard, Heskey, Rooney, Carrick.
Substitutes: James, Bridge, Upson, Barry, Milner, C Cole, Agbonlahor.
