Agent: No Milan move for former Inter star Adriano

Adriano's agent has "categorically'' denied reports the former Inter Milan star is set for a return to Italy in January to link up with the Nerazzurri's bitter rivals.

Speculation has increased Adriano is on the verge of signing for AC Milan since agent Gilmar Rinaldi said this morning the Flamengo striker could join them in the future. However, Rinaldi insists the 27-year-old will remain in Brazil until the summer at least.

"Will Adriano go to Milan? I categorically deny that,'' he told Sky Italia. "Adriano is in the Brazil squad, there is definitely nothing official. I'm a friend of (Milan general director) Ariedo Braida but no-one knows anything.

"Adriano is very happy at Flamengo, he is leading the Brazilian goalscoring charts even though he has played six less games than others, but at the moment he wants to remain in Brazil until the World Cup. That's the plan at the moment: he could leave in January but he wants to remain in Brazil until May.''

Adriano has long been linked with a move to the Rossoneri and speculation reached fever pitch when Rinaldi said: "They talked about him signing for Milan even when he was at Inter, and maybe he could still go there.''

Adriano, who ended his contract with Inter by mutual consent in April after a torrid eight years at the San Siro, revealed at the weekend he had to leave the Serie A giants because of alcohol problems.

The Brazilian had a troubled time in Italy and his career was often called into question by off-the-field reports. In September 2007, he was sent home to Brazil by Inter as he was unhappy, and he went on to join Sao Paulo on loan for six months before heading back to Italy.

Reports at the time suggested Adriano was once again turning up to training drunk and the Brazil international admitted that was why the Nerazzurri eventually gave up on him.
