Ribery and Gourcuff out for France
Coach Raymond Domench has been dealt a blow with news that Franck Ribery has been ruled out of France's World Cup qualifying matches against Austria and the Faroe Islands with tendinitis in his left knee.
The Bayern Munich winger, who has seven goals in 40 appearances for les Bleus will not be available for either game after being seen by a specialist.
Ribery started his second consecutive league match for Bayern against Cologne in the Bundesliga on Saturday but failed to shine in the 0-0 draw.
After attracting attention from the likes of Real Madrid, Chelsea and Manchester United during the summer, after a scintillating first season for Bayern, Ribery has struggled with injury at the start of this campaign.
France host the Faroe Islands in Guingamp on Saturday before welcoming Austria to the Stade de France in Paris the following Wednesday.
Bordeaux playmaker Yoann Gourcuff is also misisng for Domench's side, the midfielder has been ruled out for up to 10 days with a hamstring injury.
Les Bleus are currently second in qualifying group seven, four points behind leaders Serbia and four ahead of Austria.
