Ferrara: No excuses for poor Juventus performance

Juventus coach Ciro Ferrara had no excuses for his team's 2-0 defeat at Palermo, admitting the best team won.

• Serie A review

The result marked the Bianconeri's first loss of the campaign and prevented Juve from going top of the Serie A.

''It is useless to find an excuse,'' said Ferrara. ''Nothing worked for us. Palermo played better, they showed more intensity and we have no alibi.''

The result saw the Turin giants drop to third in the standings, two points behind leaders Sampdoria and Inter Milan.

''I am disappointed but not worried,'' said Ferrara. ''Of course, it is painful but we need to look ahead and forget about this defeat. A week ago we had a slight advantage over Inter and now it is Inter that has it.''

Juve have struggled of late to show the same form that saw them win their opening four games. The Bianconeri were held to draws at Genoa and against Bologna before their defeat in Sicily.

''We must return to being united and aggressive,'' said Ferrara. ''We made so many mistakes against Palermo and we are bitter and disappointed.''

Juve host Fiorentina on October 17 while Inter travel to the Marassi stadium to meet Genoa next.
