Ronaldo's prolific Real run halted by ankle injury
Cristiano Ronaldo's goalscoring run at Real Madrid has been temporarily suspended by the news that he will miss Sunday's La Liga meeting with Sevilla due to injury.
Ronaldo, who joined Real from Manchester United for a world record £80 million over the summer, injured his ankle during the midweek Champions League victory over Marseille.
The forward scored twice against the French side before being clattered by defender Souleymane Diawara in a challenge that resulted in the Marseille star being sent off and Real Madrid being awarded a penalty.
His brace against Marseille took Ronaldo's tally to a hugely-impressive nine goals in his first seven games for the Spanish giants.
Real coach Manuel Pellegrini is also missing Lassana Diarra, Alvaro Arbeloa, Ruud van Nistelrooy and Fernando Gago as Real attempt to protect their 100% record against Sevilla.
