Premier Showdown - Sept 26-28

After four wins on the bounce for Dale, Tommy hit back last week meaning the gap has now closed to a mere six points. Still nothing from the ROW team though, maybe that will change this week...

We're being joined by an old friend of Soccernet this week, namely Umesh Patel, who is a serial competitor season after season.

"Umesh, here," he unsurprisingly says. "It seems all the attention has shifted to the Spanish La Liga after the money spent by Madrid. Being a Manchester United fan I wish Ronaldo all the best as he was phenomenal for us.

"Let's wait and see how the two leagues compare in the Champions league which will be the real yard stick. Anyway let's get on with the business at hand."

Let us indeed.

Soccernet's Premier League Editor, Dale Johnson, and ESPNsoccernet Press Pass pundit Tommy Smyth take up the test.

They, along with the challenger, cast their eyes over weekend's top flight fixtures in England and predict how they think each game will turn out.

Points are then awarded as follows:
• Three points for a correct result and scoreline
• One point for a correct result

After the weekend's scores are in and the result has been worked out, the winning pundit receives three points for their season's total. Should the challenger win, the total is added to the 'Rest of the World's' tally. In the case of a draw, the points are shared between those level on points.
