Bundesliga: Ibisevic hat-trick inspires Hoffenheim
A Vedad Ibisevic hat-trick inspired Hoffenheim to a comfortable 5-1 win over Hertha Berlin which took Ralf Rangnick's side up to third in the Bundesliga and heaped further pressure on his opposite number Lucien Favre.
The Berlin boss led the capital club to fourth last term, but following Ibisevic's first goals of the season in the first, fourth and 21st minutes Favre finds his club bottom of the Bundesliga.
Raffael did pull a goal back for Berlin in first-half stoppage time, but further goals from Chinedu Obasi and Carlos Eduardo either side of the hour mark completed the rout which will probably seal the end of Favre's reign in charge of Berlin after their sixth straight defeat.
Freiburg continued their up-and-down season with a convincing 3-0 victory over Borussia Monchengladbach in their first win at home this season.
After a scoreless first half, Mohamadou Idrissou opened the scoring in the 54th minute before Yacine Abdessadki doubled the advantage after 72 minutes. Julian Schuster finished off the scoring with 10 minutes to play.
Freiburg shocked Hertha Berlin 4-0 on the road last weekend but lost against Ausburg midweek in the second round of the DFB-Pokal. Their fluctuating form has left them squarely in mid-table in 10th place, only two places better off than a Gladbach side that has now lost four of their last five games in the Bundesliga.
