ONEONTA, N.Y. -- The U.S. National Soccer Hall of Fame and Museum is closing except on days of special events.
The organization said on its Web site that, "despite many successes, the challenges of generating sufficient earned revenue, engaging sponsors, and developing philanthropic contributions have not been as successful as needed."
The Hall of Fame said the decision and cost savings associated with it will help provide the time and resources necessary to plan a new, sustainable operating model.
The Hall will be open only on days matches are played on its field. It said it still plans a 2010 induction ceremony.
