Marlon Harewood is set to reinforce Newcastle United's promotion efforts on loan, the Aston Villa striker's representative has said.
With Martin O'Neill having plenty of options up front, Harewood's best chance for first team football appears to be in a Newcastle side sitting second in the Championship.
''I believe we are close to agreeing everything and hopefully the move can be finalised later this week," Phil Sproson, Harewood's representative told Sky Sports. "Talks are ongoing between both clubs and I think they are keen to get it resolved.
"Marlon is back to fitness now and he is ready and raring to go. Marlon is very keen on going to Newcastle and playing regular first-team football again."
Harewood, 22, nearly joined Newcastle earlier this season before an injury delayed the move to St James' Park.
Villa's other strikers, led by Gabriel Agbonlahor, have helped blast the club to fifth on the Premier League ladder, making Harewood's prospects of breaking into the team bleak.
