Hearts have confirmed midfielder Laryea Kingston had been fined the maximum four weeks' wages following a breach of club discipline.
The Jambos said the player had been punished for ''unacceptable conduct'' in the period following last month's Premier League game at St Johnstone.
Hearts revealed the fine was not related to Kingston's decision to play twice for Ghana during the recent international break despite being declared injured by the club. But they would not elaborate further on the reasons behind the punishment.
A statement on the club's official website, read: ''The penalty reflects the seriousness of the disciplinary breach and is the maximum that could be imposed in line with the SPL guidelines.''
