The Kansas City Wizards announced Tuesday that the club has acquired striker Kei Kamara from Houston in exchange for striker Abe Thompson and allocation money. Kamara, 25, has scored a career-high five goals this season for Houston, including three game-winning goals.
Kamara has 14 career goals and three career assists in 80 MLS games over four seasons and is a native of Sierra Leone.
Thompson joined the Wizards Sept. 15, 2008 via trade from FC Dallas. He played in 16 games (eight starts) for the Wizards, recording one assist. He has 14 career goals and 12 career assists in 84 MLS games (40 starts).
