An own goal by Cincinnati and two late scores lifted the No. 1 University of Akron men's soccer team to a 3-0 victory over Cincinnati Sunday in the final game of the adidas Bearcat Classic at Gettler Stadium.
With a perfect 4-0-0 record, the Zips are off to their best start since 2005.
UA dominated possession throughout the contest, out-shooting UC, 21-5. Ironically, despite the Zips' constant pressure, it was the Bearcats' defense that ended up giving UA a 1-0 lead in the 17th minute when a failed clear attempt rebounded off a UC defender and over Williams into the net.
The score remained unchanged until two Zips' reserves, Michael Nanchoff and Mwila, extended the lead within one minute near the end of regulation.
