The numbers behind Arsenal's striker search

Bellamy back as Wales prepare for Russia tie

Craig Bellamy has been welcomed back into the Wales fold following the confusion over his no-show against Montenegro last month, with the captain being joined by West Ham United midfielder Jack Collison in John Toshack's squad for the World Cup qualifier against Russia.

Toshack has named a 23-man squad ahead of Wednesday's game at the Millennium Stadium and Bellamy is back in favour after a breakdown in communication resulted in him missing his country's last match - a 2-1 defeat in Podgorica on August 12.

The striker was injured but Manchester City failed to communicate his situation to the Football Association of Wales, causing the incident to overshadow Toshack's preparations. However, the City star will win his 57th cap against Guus Hiddink's Russia on Wednesday.

He is joined in the squad by Hammers midfielder Collison who will link up with his country despite having to attend his father's funeral on Monday and the fact that he is currently carrying a calf injury.

Toshack has also handed a recall to Hull goalkeeper Boaz Myhill and Wigan midfielder Jason Koumas, both of whom missed the Montenegro defeat, while Doncaster midfielder Brian Stock has been called up for the first time in 12 months.

Wales currently sit in fourth place in Group Four but have no real chance of reaching the World Cup finals after losing four of their opening seven games.

Squad: Hennessey (Wolves), Myhill (Hull), Price (Brentford), J Collins (Aston Villa), Eardley (Blackpool), Gabbidon (West Ham), Gunter (Nottingham Forest), Morgan (Peterborough), Nyatanga (Bristol C), Ricketts (Bolton), A Williams (Swansea), Collison (West Ham), Cotterill (Sheff Utd), Edwards (Wolves), Koumas (Wigan), Ledley (Cardiff), Ramsey (Arsenal), Stock (Doncaster), Bellamy (Man City), Church (Reading), C Evans (Sheff Utd), Earnshaw (Nottingham Forest), Vokes (Wolves).
