Gudjohnsen joins Monaco from Barcelona

Iceland striker Eidur Gudjohnsen has joined Monaco from Barcelona on a two-year contract, the Ligue 1 club said on Monday.

The 30-year-old, who joined the Spanish club in 2006 after six seasons at Chelsea, no longer played any part in Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola's plans.

The much-travelled Gudjohnsen, who has also had spells at PSV Eindhoven and Bolton Wanderers, has moved for an undisclosed transfer fee, Monaco said on their website.

• Getafe have swooped for defender Miguel Torres from local rivals Real Madrid.

Although Getafe gave no details of the deal save that Torres will be presented at midday local time on Tuesday, Spanish media report that the 23-year-old has agreed a five-year deal and will cost €2m.

Locally-born Torres came up through the youth ranks at Madrid and made his senior debut during the 2006/07 season. He helped Real win back-to-back titles in 2007 and 2008, playing 38 matches in the process.

• Racing Santander have agreed a deal with Barcelona to take the European champions' Brazilian defender Henrique on loan until the end of this season.

Henrique, 21, was on loan last season at Bundesliga club Bayer Leverkusen and the deal will be finalised once he completes a medical, Racing said on their website.

Racing have also sealed an accord pending a medical with Newcastle United to take 23-year-old Spanish striker Xisco on loan for this season, the La Liga club added.

• Hertha Berlin bolstered their squad with three new signings on the final day of the transfer window in Germany. Adrian Ramos, Cesar and Florian Kringe were all unveiled by the capital club, who have lost three of their opening four Bundesliga matches.

Colombian striker Ramos, 23, arrives on a four-year contract from America de Cali while Brazilian midfielder Cesar, 30, has signed a one-year deal with an option for a further two years after sealing a free transfer move from Al-Ahli.

Twenty-seven-year-old midfielder Kringe, meanwhile, has arrived on a season-long loan from Borussia Dortmund.
