Wantaway defender Lescott training on his own

Everton defender Joleon Lescott has been left out of Everton's squad to face Sigma Olomouc in their Europa League play-off as his move to Manchester City gathers pace.

The news comes after reports emerged from Merseyside that the England centre-back was training away from the first-team squad.

Everton boss David Moyes said: "Joleon's attitude has not been right these past days, he has disappointed me and he has disappointed his team-mates. He is not in the right frame of mind.''

But Moyes insisted he still does not want to sell the player, saying: "I hope this will all be sorted out, after the (transfer) deadline.''

Lescott handed in a written transfer request at Goodison Park last week, after City had offers of £15m and £19m rejected by the Toffeemen.

The Eastlands club have yet to formalise a third bid, but Lescott has made it clear that he would be keen to move, despite manager David Moyes labelling City's attempts to lure the player away from Merseyside as ''disgusting''.

Former Everton defender Richard Dunne - currently on the books at Eastlands - could be offered in part-exchange and the Merseysiders are believed to be ready to sell if City return with a bid upwards of £22m.

Lescott's performance in the 6-1 defeat to Arsenal on the opening day of the Premier League season came under intense scrutiny, with many pointing the finger at the disillusioned defender and he now looks set to be left out of the squad for the club's Europa League game with Sigma Olomouc on Thursday.

An Everton spokesman said: "We will not be making any comment on this."
