Chelsea are closing in on a move for Serbian U-21 midfielder Nemanja Matic in a £5m deal.
The midfielder, 20, from MFK Kosice, could become their fourth signing of the summer if he passes a medical at Stamford Bridge and should sign a four-year contract, having already agreed personal terms.
Matic said in the Daily Express: "Chelsea are very interested about seeing me in their ranks. I've left the whole matter up to my agents. Everything will soon be finished.
"There's a possibility I'll become a Chelsea player in the next few days. It's important that my club Kosice are satisfied. I have a contract with them for another one-and-a-half years and I hope it will end in the best possible way."
Despite the arrival at the club of another young foreigner, coach Carlo Ancelotti emphasised that he wants to keep a backbone of English players .
"It is important to have players who present a symbol of the team and John Terry and Frank Lampard are symbols. With their examples they can teach other players and new players the sense of importance representing the club," he said.
