Ifil comletes Dons move

Jerel Ifil is set make his competitive debut for Aberdeen against Celtic this weekend after signing a two-year-deal with the Dons.

The former Swindon Town captain completed the move after impressing Mark McGhee as a trialist in Sunday's Dean Windass testimonial win against Hull City.

The 27-year-old defender started his career at Watford, before moving on loan to Huddersfield, and was Swindon's longest serving player with more than 200 appearances in five years.

He now looks set to be thrown straight into Saturday's highly-anticipated curtain-raiser at Pittodrie.

"I am delighted to sign for Aberdeen,'' Ifil told the club's official website.

"When the opportunity to come here arose it was one I was immediately interested in pursuing.''

The towering centre-half played the full 90 minutes at the KC Stadium at the weekend and the match convinced him he was making the right move.

"I really enjoyed the game and I could tell from our performance that there are a number of top quality players in the Aberdeen team,'' he added.
