Capello: Becks must leave LA for World Cup place

David Beckham needs to return to Europe for the second half of next season to have any hope of playing at the World Cup, says England manager Fabio Capello.

The 34-year-old is back at Los Angeles Galaxy after his loan stint with AC Milan and has been criticised by a section of the club's supporters.

Now Capello has said Beckham's World Cup dream will be over if he doesn't play at the top level after Christmas.

"Beckham knows well that if he doesn't return to a big European championship in December he'll have no chance for the World Cup," Capello was quoted as saying by Monday's La Gazzetta dello Sport.
