Source: Bernardo leaves Napoli to try his luck in MLS

ESPNsoccernet has learned that U.S. U-20 star Vincenzo Bernardo has left Napoli in Serie A. A source close to the player confirmed that Bernardo is seeking to sign with Major League Soccer. Bernardo has been with Napoli since 2006, playing primarily for the youth team.

An attacking player who can be utilized as either a forward or a midfielder, Bernardo is one of a handful of young Americans playing overseas. Since last year, Bernardo has trained with Napoli's first team but has yet to make an appearance for the senior side. Bernardo has been a regular for the United States on the youth national team level, having represented his country with the U-17 and U-20 teams.

Currently 19 years old, Bernardo is a resident of Madison, N.J., and was a member of the U-16 New York Red Bulls Academy prior to signing with Napoli.
