Chinese clubs at war over "fishy" Dai Lin transfer

Dai Lin's cut price move to Shanghai Shenhua after the briefest of spells at Bosnian club FK Slavija Sarajevo has provoked outrage at his former Chinese Super League club Liaoning.

The China under-23 international defender was transfer listed with a value of £356,212 after deciding not to renew his contract at Liaoning but after just two months on the books of the Bosnian club, Shenhua will pay just £44,000 for him.

"I'm sure there is something fishy behind this," Sui Yan, deputy manager of Liaoning, told China Daily.

"Why did he come back in just two months without even competing and training? Why did the deal to Shanghai shrink to £44,000?

"If all of our players use this method to complete their transfers to another domestic league club, everything will be in a mess."

The Chinese Football Association (CFA), which has to authorise all transfers of players, said Dai had exploited a "loophole" and promised to introduce rules to block any similar deals going through in the future, the paper said.
