Edu to miss Costa Rica game with knee injury

U.S. midfielder Maurice Edu will miss the team's World Cup qualifier against Costa Rica while remaining in Glasgow, Scotland, to receive further evaluation on a knee injury. Edu suffered the injury during the Rangers' final Scottish Premier League match on May 24 against Dundee.

Edu did not travel to Miami on Sunday to join the rest of the U.S. team. His status for the remaining games this summer will be determined based on the results of his examination. No decision has been made on whether a replacement will be added to the U.S. roster.

Edu recently completed his first season with Glasgow Rangers after transferring from MLS side Toronto in August 2008.
