Beckham dismisses talk of move to Chelsea

David Beckham claims he will not be joining Carlo Ancelotti at Stamford Bridge should the AC Milan coach move to Chelsea in the summer.

The former Manchester United midfielder has been on loan at the San Siro for the past six months and is set to play his final game for the Rossoneri on Sunday before returning to the Los Angeles Galaxy for the second half of the Major League Soccer season.

It could also be Ancelotti's last game with speculation rife in England and Italy that he is on his way to Chelsea.

Beckham cannot see himself returning to the Premier League even if Ancelotti asks the 34-year-old to join him.

"I don't think that's a possibility, to be quite honest," he told the Los Angeles Times. "At the end of the day, I'm still contracted to the Galaxy. I'll be coming back July 11 to start training and then to finish the MLS season.

"But it's always nice to be wanted, and Carlo has been amazing to me since I've come to Milan, to play me in as many games as he has. I'm very thankful to him for that. I'm excited about (coming back). I'm really looking forward to it.

"I've been in Milan for six months, and I've enjoyed my time immensely. But I've always said, and I will always say, that I am still committed to MLS and to the Galaxy, no matter what anyone says."

Beckham was less dismissive about the possibility of a return to Real Madrid, the club he left in 2007 for the Galaxy.

The return of Florentino Perez, the man who brought Beckham to the Spanish capital, could be confirmed on Monday if no one else stands against him in the presidential elections and the former England captain believes it will be good for the club.

"I don't know," Beckham said when asked if he could see himself playing for Madrid again. "To even be asked the question at 34 years old is quite flattering. I never thought I'd be here on loan and playing for a club like AC Milan. What happens in the future, I don't know. At the moment, all I'm concentrating on is the game on Sunday.

"If Florentino gets in, which is looking likely, then I think it's the best thing for the club. I think he's a great man. He's a man who knows the club inside-out. He's a man who always does the best for the players, the club and the fans. He's a president who creates an excitement with his passion for the game."

Beckham was originally set to return to America in March but protracted negotiations eventually saw Galaxy agree for the midfielder to see out the remainder of the Serie A campaign, something he admits he contributed "a huge sum" towards.

There is reportedly a deal in place which will see Beckham return to the San Siro in November but the England international claims nothing is concrete at the moment.

"I'm not sure what the actual figure was, but I did contribute quite a huge sum," he said. "It was something that I felt I had to do to stay here for the rest of the season, and I accepted it.

"At the end of the day, it's a hell of a lot of money, but it's something I really needed to do. Nothing has been signed yet, and nothing's concrete. But obviously Milan have already showed their interest in me coming back, so that's a good sign."
