Genoa pull off coup as Crespo completes move

Genoa president Enrico Preziosi has confirmed his club has completed a deal to bring Inter Milan striker Hernan Crespo to the Stadio Luigi Ferraris.

Crespo found his options limited under Inter boss Jose Mourinho and had been linked with a move to Fiorentina before Genoa came calling with the offer of a two-year deal.

The 33-year-old Argentina international has made just 13 appearances for the Nerazzurri this season, scoring two goals, but is expected to see more first-team action at Genoa with Diego Milito heading in the opposite direction to join Inter.

Thiago Motta is also leaving to join the champions, and Preziosi hopes the signing of the experienced Crespo will soften the blow of that double loss.

"We have reached an agreement - Crespo is a Genoa player," said Preziosi, who held talks with the player's agent. "We are delighted because he is a serious professional who we have admired for a long time."

Roberto Acquafresca will arrive in Liguria as part of the deal which sees Milito and Motta join Inter, while the transfer merry-go-round between the two clubs is set to continue with Ricardo Quaresma also on Preziosi's radar.

The president confirmed a fee has been agreed for the Portugal international, with the player expected to put pen to paper in the coming week.

"With Quaresma, things are very simple," Preziosi revealed. "The clubs have already reached an agreement and all that is missing is the player's signature.

"You always need the player's signature, but I don't think it will be terribly difficult. I hope that the arrivals of Quaresma and Crespo can help a great Genoa emerge."
