Idabdelhay levels Dutch Europa League play-off

Fouad Idabdelhay struck with a brilliant late volley to give NAC Breda a 1-1 draw with Groningen in the first game of their three-match play-off final for a Europa League ticket on Thursday.

Breda took early command but Brazilian goalkeeper Luciano da Silva kept Groningen in the match, twice denying Anthony Lurling before Patrick Mtiliga hit the bar.

Danny Holla put Groningen ahead after the break after keeper Jelle ten Rouwelaar had misjudged a cross from Fredrik Stenman.

In the final minute Idabdelhay controlled the ball on his chest and hit the net with a screaming volley.

The teams will meet on Sunday in Groningen in the second match, when a win for either side would settle matters.
