Mido missing from Egypt squad for qualifiers

Wigan Athletic striker Midowas not included in Egypt's 28-man squad for their World Cup qualifier against Algeria and the Confederations Cup next month.

"He (Mido) was excluded due to a tactical point of view," Shawki Gharib, Egypt's assistant coach, said.

Mido, on loan from Premier League rivals Middlesbrough, had been left out of the squad named on Thursday despite a dearth of attacking options.

The player has a history of disciplinary problems both at club and international level.

Egypt will also be without forward Emad Meteb, sidelined due to knee injury.

Mido, a former Tottenham Hotspur striker who has scored two goals for Wigan since joining in January, will miss World Cup qualifiers against Algeria on June 7 and Rwanda on July 5.
