Islanders secure CCL qualification

The Puerto Rico Islanders booked their return ticket by finishing as runner-ups in the Caribbean Football Union championship. After ensuring qualification to the 2009-10 CONCACAF Champions League by beating Tempete of Haiti 2-0 on Friday, the Islanders faced host W Connection in the final Sunday.

Against W Connection, the Islanders fell behind early as Jonathan Frias scored twice in the first 20 minutes to put the hosts ahead. Martin Nunez pulled a goal back for the Islanders, but Puerto Rico was unable to find the equalier.

In the third-place contest, the other host club San Juan Jabloteh defeated 2-1 Tempete 2-1.
