Pavlyuchenko not thinking of Spurs escape route

Tottenham Hotspur striker Roman Pavlyuchenko expects to remain at the club next season and claims he has been given assurances about his future at White Hart Lane.

Pavlyuchenko has been in and out of team in his debut campaign in the Premier League and his agent recently met boss Harry Redknapp, with the Russia striker confident he is still in the Spurs boss' plans.

"I am a Tottenham player and want to remain one," Pavlyuchenko said in Russian newspaper Sport Express. "All these talks about a sale or loan don't bother me."

The 27-year-old, however, did admit he questioned his future when he turned out for the reserves.

He added: "Of course it is not pleasant to be in the reserves. When I did not play for several matches I started to think everything over and to tell the truth I had some disturbing thoughts."

Redknapp attempted to sign Kenwyne Jones during the transfer window and ahead of the summer will have been encouraged by Roque Santa Cruz intending to leave Blackburn Rovers.

The Spurs boss has also watched Genoa striker Diego Milito.

"English clubs have made interesting offers," said Milito's representative Fernando Hidalgo Hidalgo in La Gazzetta dello Sport.

Meanwhile, full-back Pascal Chimbonda is among the players who have welcomed the alcohol ban Redknapp has talked about implementing following Ledley King's arrest last weekend.

"It's fine for me," Chimbonda said on Sky Sports. "I don't drink a lot."
