Marco van Basten appears set to remain as Ajax coach despite Sunday's 4-0 defeat to Sparta Rotterdam which ended their hopes of reaching the Champions League.
Van Basten only took over at the Amsterdam ArenA in the summer, but has struggled to live up to expectations.
However, Ajax director Rik van den Boog claims the club have no plans to dispense with their coach.
He told AD Sportwereld: "The defeat is a big disappointment, but the situation will not change because of it."
Van Basten himself has no intention of quitting, but admits he will have to hold talks with the board.
"I intend to carry on," he said. "But the board might think differently.
"No doubt there will be discussions with the board - that is logical. The interaction between the staff and the players is not good enough when you are defeated like this.
"If they are not satisfied with me and don't want to keep me for the new season, I will be reasonable."
