Ligue 1: Bordeaux draw level with Marseille at top

Rampant Bordeaux moved level on points with Marseille at the top of Ligue 1 as goals by Gregory Sertic, Yoann Gourcuff and Marouane Chamakh secured them a comfortable victory over struggling Sochaux at the Stade Chaban-Delmas.

Midfielders Sertic and Gourcuff struck in the opening 14 minutes to put Les Girondins in the box-seat and Chamakh grabbed the third deep into second-half stoppage time.

Laurent Blanc's men are only behind OM on goal difference now, one goal separating the two sides who will battle it out for the title in the final four matches of the campaign.

Sochaux, who had Radiu Afolabi sent off late on for two bookable offences, stay 17th and just outside the relegation zone, although they are level on points with third-bottom Nantes.

The win - the hosts' seventh in succession in the league - was wrapped up soon after kick-off, a far cry from Wednesday when they needed last-gasp heroics from Gourcuff to steal three points at Rennes.

Buccaneering right-back Mathieu Chalme provided the assists for both first-half goals.

In the seventh minute, the former Lille defender cut inside to feed young winger Sertic, who controlled, span and curled the ball into the bottom corner from 20 yards.

Chalme then clipped a delightful cross into the box seven minutes later for Gourcuff to rise and head home majestically from 10 yards out.

Sochaux, now winless in four matches, were not without chances of their own in the first half.

Mevlut Erding headed a Ryad Boudebouz free-kick just over before the latter nodded Yassin Mikari's centre against the bar in the 42nd minute.

Bordeaux strolled through the second period and Blanc even afforded himself the luxury of bringing off Henrique, back in action after a long-term knee injury, on the hour mark to save the Brazilian's legs for future games.

Fernando headed wide and David Bellion hit the bar with the best of Les Girondins' early chances after the break while Sochaux hardly threatened at the other end.

Afolabi, who was cautioned in the 31st minute, earned a second yellow for tripping Chamakh in the 82nd minute and was given his marching orders.

The Moroccan striker added to the Montbeliard club's woes by nodding in Benoit Tremoulinas' cross for the third with the last touch of the game.
