Ronaldo injury not serious, claim Corinthians

Corinthians coach Mano Menezes has announced Ronaldo will be fit to play next Sunday against Santos in the Sao Paulo state tournament final second leg.

The 2002 World Champion was taken to hospital at half-time in the 3-2 defeat against Atletico Paranaense in the Copa do Brasil last 16 last night after colliding with defender Marcio Azevedo.

But coach Mano Menezes confirmed that the injury is not serious.

"Corinthians fans can be calm, Ronaldo will definitely play next Sunday's match against Santos," he said.

"He has overcome bigger problems during his career so this blow is nothing for him."

Club doctor Paulo de Faria added: "Ronaldo suffered a strong blow to the chest, but we did some tests and there is no fracture."

"Despite feeling a little pain in that area he will not have any problem playing on Sunday."
