Lazio determined to seal deal for Zarate

Lazio president Claudio Lotito has travelled to Qatar eager to do what it takes to make Mauro Zarate's stay at the Stadio Olimpico a permanent one.

Zarate, who scored the opener in Wednesday night's 2-1 defeat of Juventus in the Coppa Italia semi-final, is currently on a season-long loan deal from Al Saad and has impressed since his arrival in Serie A last summer.

Lazio have first option to sign the 21-year-old striker but that right expires on April 30 and Lotito is keen to wrap things up as soon as possible.

"I'm leaving to finalise the Zarate deal," he told Radio Radio. "We're not putting any limits, if I'm going there I'm doing it to bring back home a result.

"As the team did in the Coppa Italia, that's what I have to do for the club."

Zarate scored a brace on his Serie A debut and is currently Lazio's top scorer with 12 goals.
