Colo Colo take the honours in Chilean derby game

Lucas Barrios scored twice in the first half as Colo Colo took the honours in Chile's top derby after beating second-placed Universidad de Chile 3-1 at the Estadio Nacional.

Argentinian Barrios opened the scoring after 12 minutes before widening the gap 21 minutes later for Colo Colo who are under the guidance of interim coach. Gualberto Jara.

Juan Manuel Oliveira reduced the deficit eight minutes after the interval, but Luis Pedro Figueroa secured the victory for the defending champions before Universidad's Jorge Rojas was sent-off in the closing stages.

The defeat leaves Universidad still 10 points adrift of leaders Union Espanola although they do still have two games in hand, while Colo Colo moved up to 13th.
