Guadalajara sack coach ahead of Superclasico
Guadalajara have sacked coach Omar Arellano just days before the Clausura clash with bitter rivals America.
Arellano was promoted from assistant coach on March 30 to replace Efrain Flores, but has steered the team to just one win in his three matches in charge.
Although Arellano was warned he would be relieved of the post if results were disappointing, the timing of the announcement has come as a surprise with Guadalajara set to face America on Sunday.
Former Mexico assistant coach, Francisco Ramirez, is set to take the reins and is looking forward to the job ahead.
"It is the most important challenge of my life and I'll take it because I love challenges. It is a dream come true," Ramirez told the Esto newspaper.
"I hope I can help the team in their fight to make it into the play-offs. In the derby, we'll see what we can do."
