Figueroa penalty seals Caracas win

Dario Figueroa's second half penalty sent Venezuela's Caracas to the top of Group Six in the Copa Libertadores after edging out Chile's Everton 1-0.

Argentinian playmaker Figueroa converted from the spot on the hour mark to secure the win over the visitors, who had Rodrigo Ramirez sent-off.

With Mexico's Guadalajara sharing a goalless draw with Argentina's Lanus, who finished the game with 10 men after Maximiliano Velazquez's dismissal, Caracas top the table a point clear of Guadalajara.

With one game remaining, Guadalajara lead Everton by two points ahead of a final round meeting between the two sides to decide who joins Caracas in the last 16.

In Group Five, Ecuador's Deportivo Quito kept their chances of reaching the knockout stages alive after beating Bolivia's Universitario 3-1.

Luis Saritama put the hosts ahead after 10 minutes before Nicolas Raimondi's header pulled Universitario level.

But penalties from Leider Preciado and Saritama secured the win despite the dismissal of goalkeeper Giovanni Ibarra.

Brazil's Cruzeiro top the group heading into the final round of games, but sit just a point clear of Argentina's Estudiantes and two clear of Deportivo Quito, who face already-eliminated Universitario in the final round while the Ecuadorians will travel to Belo Horizonte.
