McClaren: I don't miss England
FC Twente coach Steve McClaren has no regrets over swapping England for Holland, admitting he "loves" his new life.
The 47-year-old signed a two-year deal with Twente last summer and has been a great success during his first season in charge, steering the club to second in the Eredivisie and on the brink of a place in the Champions League.
McClaren revealed the change has enabled him to put his troubled days as England manager behind him.
"I don't miss England. I'm having a great time here," he told Voetbal International. "I go to work with pleasure and have no problems with the press. I love this culture."
McClaren also sang the praises of Twente chairman Joop Munsterman for his part in the club's recent success, which also saw them reach the last 32 of the UEFA Cup.
"He [Munsterman] radiates ambition in everything he does, but he also proves he does what he says he will," the Englishman said. "This is a quality I haven't seen in many board members in the football world.
"Five years ago, people ridiculed Joop because he predicted he would set up a new stadium and a healthy organisation during a bad period for the club - and he did.
"I have soft spot for Joop. I love his plans, his energy and his club."
