Angel rules out making return to River Plate

New York Red Bulls striker Juan Pablo Angel has ruled out a return to River Plate.

The 33-year-old former Colombia attacker, who played for the Argentinian giants between 1997 and 2000, wants to finish his contract with the MLS side before considering his future.

"I thank River forever, but it does not mean I will be back," he told in Buenos Aires, where the team are playing some pre-season friendlies.

"I still have two more years on my contract and I am enjoying it."

Angel, who also played for Aston Villa from 2001 to 2007, admits part of him misses Argentina and England.

He told FOX Sports: "I miss a number of things - the passion of fans in the Argentinian Superclasico and the time I had in the English league, the best championship in the world.

"When you play those leagues, passion is tiring, but you miss it in the end.

"I've been here for a year and a half and I enjoy it a lot."
