Latics medical for Rodallega

Colombian striker Hugo Rodallega is having his medical at the JJB Stadium ahead of confirming his £4.5m move to Wigan Athletic.

Providing there are no problems, the 23-year-old, who secured a work permit 10 days ago, is expected to finalise his transfer by the weekend.

Wigan's next match is a Premier League clash with Liverpool at the JJB Stadium on Wednesday night but Rodallega is unlikely to feature as manager steve bruce looks to ease him into english football.

Rodallega, described by Bruce as "strong and quick with an eye for goal", has been playing for Necaxa in the Primera División de México and has scored an impressive 25 goals in 52 games.

Bruce said: "If he is anything like the other South and Central American imports we have brought in to the club, we have netted another gem, that's for sure."

Wigan have also been given permission by Middlesbrough to speak to striker Mido about a possible transfer.
