Adelaide to release trio at end of season

Adelaide United have agreed to release defender Angelo Costanzo and midfield duo Diego and Jonas Salley when their contracts expire at the end of the current A-League season.

Veteran defender Costanzo has been with the Reds since the A-League's first season in 2005-06 but has been in and out of the side this season.

Diego is another who was an integral part of the set-up since his arrival from American team Miami FC in January 2007, but has been a peripheral player this season.

Salley has been with Adelaide for the past two seasons.

The trio will all remain at the club for the upcoming A-League finals series and coach Aurelio Vidmar is confident they will play a part before moving on at the end of the season.

"It's a very difficult decision for the coaching staff because all three have contributed positively during their time here but unfortunately with the direction the club is moving into, they are not part of our plans going forward," Vidmar said.

"However, all three will still play a very important part in our finals campaign as we try to win the championship."

The trio's departure adds to the list of names who will not be at the club next season, which include Paul Agostino and Michael Valkanis, who have both announced their retirements, and defender Sasa Ognenovski, who is heading to Korea to join K-League club Seongnam Ilhwa.
