Goalkeeper Abbondanzieri set to sign for Boca

Boca Juniors general manager Carlos Bianchi is confident the club will complete the signing of Getafe goalkeeper Roberto Abbondanzieri in the next 48 hours.

The former Roma and Atletico Madrid coach revealed a deal is close for the veteran stopper, who should take the place of Mauricio Caranta.

"In the next 48 hours we are going to try to complete the transfer. We have made an offer and we are waiting for the answer. Pato has a good chance to retire at Boca with a two-year contract," said Bianchi.

Caranta has been dropped from the first-team squad and his future at the club looks bleak.

Bianchi added: "Caranta has been ruled out of the squad. He is the only one that will not travel (to pre-season training), but he still belongs to Boca.

"We will see how his future continues and if we can sell him. From tomorrow he will train by himself."

Bianchi also revealed midfielder Jesus Datolo could be on his way to Dynamo Kiev.

"We are waiting for the offer for Datolo from Dynamo Kiev," he said. "Boca are interested in selling him."
