Lens gunning for revenge against PSG

Paris St Germain will attempt to maintain their four-pronged assault for honours this season when they take on Lens in the quarter-finals of the Coupe de la Ligue on Wednesday.

Although they lost 4-0 to Bordeaux in Ligue 1 last night, PSG are still only six points behind leaders Lyon with almost half the campaign remaining.

They have qualified for the last 32 of the UEFA Cup and also progressed to the same stage in the Coupe de France.

They will now turn their attention to the Coupe de la Ligue, a trophy they are currently holders of thanks to their 2-1 win over Lens in last season's final at the Stade de France.

That match was not without controversy, a section of PSG fans unfurling a banner at the start of the second half which read, 'Paedophiles, unemployed, inbreeding, welcome to the North'.

The message hijacked the name of a film which was out in France at that time, called 'Welcome to the North', and was aimed at the people of Lens.

PSG were originally banned from this year's competition as a result, but that decision was overturned on appeal.

Lens, who now play in the second division following their relegation from Ligue 1, may feel they have a score to settle.

Elsewhere, there is only one all-Ligue 1 affair in the quarter-finals, with Nice hosting Le Havre at the Stade du Ray on Tuesday.

The other tie on Tuesday sees Vannes OC take on fellow Ligue 2 side Metz.

Bordeaux entertain Chateauroux on Wednesday in the other last-eight match.
